1. Agreement.
These terms apply when you use the Renovation app or getrenovation.app. By using them you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use Renovation.
2. Who can use it.
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract. Renovation is built for homes in the United States. You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your sign-in method secure.
3. What this is.
The app organizes a cosmetic home renovation into an ordered plan, estimates materials, and shows general step-by-step guidance. It is educational information, not professional advice, and not a substitute for a licensed contractor, engineer, inspector, or your local building department.
4. Your responsibility.
You decide what to do yourself. You are responsible for checking permit requirements, building codes, HOA rules, product instructions, and your own ability and safety. Stop when the app tells you to stop, and when in doubt.
5. Safety and hazardous materials.
Work on electrical, gas, plumbing inside walls, structural elements, and shower waterproofing requires licensed professionals and, usually, permits. Homes built before 1978 may contain lead paint; materials from before 1980 may contain asbestos. Test before disturbing.
6. The step helper.
Answers from the step helper are generated by AI from the guide and what you send it. They can be incomplete or wrong. Check them against the guide, product labels and local rules, and never rely on them for work the app marks as contractor-only.
7. Estimates.
Material quantities, savings, and time are estimates based on your measurements and typical coverage rates. Actual needs vary. Verify with product labels and your own measurements.
8. Contractors.
When you ask, we may forward your job request to an independent contractor. We do not employ, supervise, or guarantee contractors. Verify licenses at cslb.ca.gov and use written contracts. Contractors may pay us for job requests; homeowners do not.
9. Retailer links.
We may earn a commission when you buy through links in the app, at no extra cost to you. Prices, availability, and returns are set by the retailer.
10. Price.
This version of Renovation is free. If we add paid features, we show the price before you buy. Purchases in the iPhone app are handled by Apple under Apple's terms.
11. Your content.
You own the photos, measurements, and notes you add. You give us permission to store and process them only to run Renovation for you, including sending them to a contractor when you ask. Only upload photos you have the right to use, and do not upload other people's personal information.
12. Acceptable use.
Do not misuse Renovation: no attempts to break or overload it, access other people's accounts, scrape it, or use it for anything illegal.
13. Our app.
We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use Renovation. The guides, diagrams, clips, and software belong to us or our licensors. If you downloaded the app from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.
14. Ending your account.
You can delete your account at any time in the app under Account. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.
15. No warranty; limitation of liability.
The app is provided as is. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for property damage, injury, or losses arising from work you or others perform.
16. Law and changes.
California law governs these terms. If we change them, we update the date at the top, and material changes are shown in the app before they take effect.
